Malisa Pedro

Malisa Pedro, the Coordinator for Dalton/Whitfield County Family Connection, has served the Collaborative since March 2024. Before taking on this role, she served as the Program Director for Dalton Public Schools' 21st Century Afterschool Programs from 2019 to 2024, where she supported K-12 students in out-of-school time programs. Malisa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Reading, Language, and Literacy. With nine years of teaching experience, she has taught first, third, and fifth grades. During her time as Program Director, Malisa discovered her passion for parent engagement, which has since become a key focus of her work. She actively supports parents in their parenting journey by being a member of the Truancy Treatment Team, leading parenting classes on various subjects, and organizing special events such as Teen Maze, Pre-Kindergarten Registration, and Sharing is Caring. A native of Whitfield County, Malisa is deeply involved in her community and resides with her husband, Alberto, and their son, Carter.
